Think of them as 3 tools for the same task, but maybe one will be better than another for specific things. Sort of like a carpenter who has a handheld circular saw, a table saw, a miter saw, a jig saw and a reciprocal saw, all 5 are power tools which cut stuff, but if he wants to cut a circle or half circle out of the floor, he would use the jig saw, when he wants to cut a bunch of 2x4 studs to length, you set up the miter saw and it's done in no time.
