iPhone warning: Millions of devices at risk of attack, Apple warns; update
now

Published: Jan. 20, 2026, 6:37 a.m.

According to Fox News, Apple recently confirmed two critical vulnerabilities
in WebKit, the browser engine that powers Safari and all browsers on iOS.
The issues allowed cyber attackers to gain control of the device and
possibly steal password or access sensitive payment information.

Apple released a fix as soon the problem was discovered and the patch is
included in the latest software update. However, only about 50% of users
have updated to iOS26, reports indicate.

Affected devices include:

iPhone 11 and later

iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd generation and later

iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later

iPad Air 3rd generation and later

iPad 8th generation and later

iPad mini 5th generation and later

The best defense against the flaw is update your device.

"Keeping your software up to date is one of the most important things you
can do to maintain your Apple product's security," Apple's website said.

If your iPhone is not running either iOS 26.2 or iOS 18.7.3, you should
update it now.
