Instead of accumulating even more GPS apps, make friends with the apps you
already have. The Soundscape app by, oh gosh, Scottish Tech Army is it? Anyway,
that’s an active fork of the original app and is good. Voice Vista is also
good, but with GPS apps you’ll quickly find you’re duplicating features across
the board. My recommendation: Pair a good blindness-specific GPS app with
either Google Maps or Apple’s own native Maps app, and learn how to mark places
and navigate really well with those. If you feel you absolutely need a shiny
new toy, consider the new GPS Mike’s peddling. I think it’s called Indigogo?

Hope this is helpful,

Joe

Subject: simple gps app recommendation

I will soon be moving into a large gated community containing several
businesses and other landmarks I'll probably want to mark for easy relocation.
I have a plethora of gps apps that I have collected but mostly never used,
including several under the Seeing Assistant line, BlindSquare, Voice Vista,
SoundScape (which I assume doesn't get updates,) and perhaps others. Are there
any recommendations?
