There is not apart from what was already suggested, i.e. to swipe or touch the screen so focus is not on the call timer. Having said this, I hope every single person who replied to this has emailed Apple Accessibility to report this as a very annoying issue and to continue repeating sending such email every time a minor iOS update is released and this has not been fixed.
