Don't forget that the "E" phones like the 16E and now the 17E are not the same
as the older SE phones which were noticeable smaller.
Below are the width, height and thickness of the 16 Pro and 17E. You'll notice
that the width is exactly the same and the thickness is only .01 inches or 0.45
mm less thick. That is just under half a millimeter and it is a difference you
would never notice.
In height the iPhone 17E is 2.9 mm shorter which is less than 1/8 of an inch
and even that is very little.
Weight of the 16 Pro is 199 grams and the 17E is 169 grams, a difference of 30
grams or 1.07 ounces. That is approx. the weight of 2 tablespoons of water.
The time of the smaller SE phones for now has gone and strictly by screen size,
the 17E with a 6.1 inch screen is not so different from the iPhone 16 Pro which
has a 6.3 inch screen.

iPhone 16 Pro
Width: 71.5 mm (2.81 inches)
Height: 149.6 mm (5.89 inches)
Thickness: 8.25 mm (0.32 inches)
Weight: 199 grams (7.03 ounces).

iPhone 17E
Width: 71.5 mm (2.81 inches)
Height: 146.7 mm (5.78 inches)
Thickness: 7.8 mm (0.31 inches)
Weight: 169 grams (5.96 ounces)

Subject: RE: Upgrading to 17E?

I am thinking of doing the same thing. Going from a 16 Pro to the 17E. I just
don't like the weight of the 16 in my pocket.

I looked at the 17 Air but didn't like the speaker and it felt unbalanced,
heavy at the camera end. I thought I would like the camera and theLiDAR of the
16 Pro but I use the camera rarely mostly for stuff with Be My Eyes and to my
knowledge I have never used the LiDAR. I also find the special button for the
camera irritating, I too often bump it accidently. So I am waiting to handle
one of the 17 E in a store. I had one of the older SE phones, had it in my
pocket all the time and mostly didn't notice it til I needed to use it. With
this 16 Pro I find I keep setting it down somewhere and then have to go looking
for it when I want to use it. Who knows first world problems I guess.

Just curious, but why do you upgrade from a 16 Pro to a 17E, to me that is a
downgrade. Yes, you get a slightly newer processor, but you give up a better
camera and the LiDAR sensor which your 16 Pro has but the 17E does not have.

Subject: Upgrading to 17E?

I'll be receiving my 17E this week. What's the most convenient way to move my
stuff from my 16 Pro to the 17E? Is there any reason to run up to BestBuy or
Xfinity, my carrier? Thanks.
