Hello All,

When I post messages to the list, they will be displayed as the list name.  There are reasons for this but, in the end, this is how it is.

As for Gemini:

I suggests that if you have not used Gemini in the past, it may be a good idea to use its live mode from within the Gemini app, itself, before engaging the talk live widget.

After installing Gemini, you must link it to a Google account.  Then, you must grant the usual permissions, etc.  After doing this, you will be in the main Gemini interface which is extremely simple.  Explore the display screen and you will discover a button that VoiceOver reads as, “Talk Live.”

When you engage this feature, you may talk to Gemini just as you would to any person.  For best results, use a headset so that audio does not get interrupted.

The Gemini widget can be configured on the Today screen just like all other iPhone widgets.

Yes, I use shortcuts but I find the widget feature faster when I just want to ask a quick question.

Once you begin interacting with Gemini via live conversations, I think you will agree that it is the closest to the Star Trek computer we’ve come, so far.

Hello, widget seems good but short cut with Siri too. Do you use it?

Hi Mark,
Well, I installed it. I don’t see a widget. I see a whole lot of stuff about things I don’t care about when I go into the help thing. All the release notes starting from the most recent and going back in time. But no widget. It also wanted me to login, and the only choice I got was a Google account I haven’t used in years. It didn’t even want the one I actually still do use. And certainly wouldn’t let me login using my Apple account. so I’m really confused about this thing. What you described sounded good. This has a whole lot of other stuff I don’t care about. Did you pay for it? Or did you just use the free version.

Hello Everyone,

Since installing Google Gemini on my iPhone, in addition to enjoying real-time voice interaction, via Gemini’s “Live Mode”, I recently discovered that Gemini is amazing when it comes to discussing and or describing anything at which my phone camera is pointing.

For example, the other day, I wanted to know how much time was left on my microwave cooking timer and I asked Gemini and it instantly told me that there were 3 minutes and fifteen seconds remaining.

When I receive hardcopy mail, including flyers, I can ask Gemini to either read the document or describe the document, such as a huge political flyer that is mostly photos.

Another example:  Since there is quite a bit of distance from my front door to where I place my trash cans to be emptied by the trash service, I asked Gemini if the cans have been emptied.  Its response is something like, “given that the lids to both containers are open, I suggest that they have been emptied.”

I could go on and on but I’m hoping that you will give Gemini a try and let us know what you think.

The following steps should get you started:

1.
Install Gemini on your iOS device.

2.
Configure the Gemini Talk Live widget on your Today screen.

3.
Launch Gemini, talk live mode, via the Today Screen widget.

4.
Converse with Gemini.

5.
If you want Gemini to describe something for you in real-time, activate the video streaming button located near the bottom left corner of the display to toggle it on.

6.
Point your phone at something and then ask Gemini a question about it and be prepared to be dazzled.

Oh!  One more thing:  Gemini is wonderful at reading preparation instructions for food that may be frozen or in cans, etc.

I hope you will give it a try.

Mark
