So, A follow up to the below. I reached out to Apple Accessibility support and
after a few minutes troubleshooting and not getting anywhere, what finally
fixed it was resetting VoiceOver settings in case anyone’s encountering or will
encounter the same problem.
Slightly annoying since you have to go through VO to get everything set up how
you had it before, but at least in my case, the issue was so disruptive, I felt
it was a small inconvenience to get the proper speech configuration back.

Why should I wait to report something when I’m experiencing it in the hear and
now?
I’ve done the usual restart VO as well as the phone itself with no luck and
have been an iPhone user since 2011 so this isn’t my first update rodeo either.
Just delete and move on. Talk about thoroughly unhelpful.

Please folks wit all our voice problems, please after updating a whole IOS,
wait with the reporting of bugs at least 24 hours.
Please do charge your iphone for at least one evening or night and lock the
screen.
Why? Because there are so many background processes going on after an update
your iphone is indexing bunches of stuff and it is possible that right after an
update the phones behaviour especially with voices is weird, that’s each year
the same issues.

Onderwerp: Updated to iOS 27 and my primary Samantha voice is stuck on the
default speech rate of 50%

Hello list,
So as the subject line states, I updated my 15 Pro Max to iOS 27 about an hour
ago, and while the process of doing so went fine, now, my Samantha voice which
is my primary voice and which I have at 100% speech rate is stuck at what
sounds like the default 50%. Also, If I select another voice profile be it
English as well or another language, nothing changes.
I have restarted my phone and when I did it the first time, the TTS came back
with my correct speech settings, but after 10 or so minutes, it reverted to the
50% speech rate.
I’m going to reach out to Apple accessibility as this is driving me bonkers and
is bigtime affecting my ability to work from my phone.
Just thought I’d reach out in case others are also experiencing this and if
they know of a workaround other than trying to roll back to an earlier release?
