And just FYI, all iPhones sold in Canada still have a physical SIM tray. I don’t even think you can order an ESIM only version. I just preordered an iPhone 18 Pro 256 Gb for both myself and my wife directly from Apple. No choice was given with respect to getting a phone without a SIM tray.
The below is primarily for the Canadians on the list in case somebody is trying to decide whether to get an iPhone 18 Pro and whether to buy it from apple or with whatever offers their cell provider has. To sum up what comes next, in my opinion Apple’s offer of monthly payments at 0% financing via Affirm is better than any offer from a provider, of course that would only be an option if you qualify for Affirm financing which is determined during the check-out process and depends a bit on your credit score and financial situation. In Canada there is also no leasing option which Apple in the United States offers through Clarna (a similar company to Affirm). The only choices you have regarding payment here is to pay in full or to select to pay over 24 months with Affirm, a financing company which offers payment plans for many retailers. In the case of the iPhone 18 Pro Apple through Affirm offers 0% financing over 24 months, in other words, for the iPhone 18 Pro which in Canada costs $1,749 Canadian + applicable taxes (those vary by province), you can choose to pay $72.88/months over 24 months. It is actually $72.875, but I believe what happens is that you pay $72.88 for 23 months which then makes your last payment $72.76. Any taxes you have to pay upfront, here in British Columbia we have a 5% federal sales tax and a 7% provincial sales tax, so there is an upfront payment of %$209.88. Also, I fyou trade in your current iPhone, the trade-in value Apple offers is deducted from the $1,749 and your monthly payments then are whatever is left divided by 24. In my opinion this is actually a pretty good deal, I have an iPhone 16 Pro 128 Gb and Apple offered me $775 for trading it in, this means I still pay the $209.88 taxes on the full purchase price of the iPhone 18 Pro 256 Gb, but then my monthly total is $1,749 - $775 divided by 24 or $974 divided by 24 or $40.58//month. I think this is a much better deal than what Telus, my cell provider offers. First of all they list the iPhone 18 Pro price as $1,799 so it’s $50 more to begin with than what Apple charges. Then they have various plans where you have to pay nothing up front, but monthly payments are higher and at the end of the 24 months I have to either return my iPhone 18 Pro and sign up for a new plan with a new iPhone or I have to buy it out and the buy-out prices are usually around $480 depending on what you choose to pay monthly. With Apple’s offer I truly pay only for the cost of the phone and why not pay over 2 years instead of up front as I am not paying a single Cent of interest and when the 2 years are up the phone is mine and I can decide to keep it for another year or two or trade it in again for whatever will be the current model then. According to Siri: Yes, the iPhone 18 Pro is available with an eSIM in the UK. Unlike some markets where the phone is eSIM-only, the UK model includes both a physical nano-SIM tray and built-in eSIM support. So, check with your carrier to get an eSim for it and verify that they offer eSim. My current iPhone is long overdue an upgrade. I’m very interested in the iPhone 18 Pro, in particular the e-sim-only version that’s available in countries such as the US/Canada/etc etc. I don’t have a physical sim card any more, so have no need for a phone with the sim tray. And the additional battery that Apple has replaced the sim tray with is very appealing to me. So I was just wondering if there was any way I could get the US/Canadian/etc etc version of the iPhone either in or delivered to the UK?? Thanks so much for any ideas that anyone might have.
