Hi Scott, If I understand you correctly you are using the Sonos app, you select a Zone and then double tap on "Music Library". You then select by artist, album, song or whatever, you see the songs and when you double tap on what you want to play you get the prompt "Play Now" or "Play Next" etc. Then you double tap on Play Now and nothing happens?
Can you play music from "this iPhone" or anything from an internet radio station? There are lots of variables, it would be good to know if you can play anything either through the app or the desktop controller just so you are sure your sonos player works. If all else fails just call Sonos technical support, they are very helpful and usually very knowledgeable.
