Ok, I checked both and searched high and low. In empty mailboxes or whatever, there is always the Compose button on the bottom right of the iPhone version, all be that still 5.1.1 on a 3gs.
The Mini by contrast, only seems to have the menu of functions when there is messages and not then until you get rid of the side bar into message bodies. what are we missing? someone asked this question not long ago and I'm putting it again as I couldn't have stressed it right the first time.
