Heather, At least in my experience, I am having the same issue. I am using an iPhone five and I have tried muting voiceover in an effort to silence sounds. I'm trying to disable voiceover like I've done with previous iPhones, it has proven unsuccessful. I am either limited to the speakerphone or continue to stay on the handset. Voiceover at least in my opinion, cannot be disabled. This is unfortunate. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly welcome them. Triple clicking the home button Does not disable voiceover. I miss this feature of my previous iPhone.
