Yes that did work. I will say this is the best speech I have yet to hear
from any of the navigation aps.

One thing I noticed about it yesterday was that it didn't always give me the
next turn information. For a time I had my phone muted and I wonder if
because of this the app is not playing the audio messages. I thought that
gps apps would overwrite this feature though. I'll play with Mapquest, Waze,
and Navigon to see what they do when the phone is muted. 
If they still play the audio messages, but Google Maps doesn't, then this is
a problem I fear.
