The only way that I have found to do this is to actually turn voiceover off 
while playing to keep that from happening. Hold your menu key down, for a 
second, you get the choice to turn voiceover on or off, and something else 
below that I forget what it is, but it's always the first choice. Hit the 
select key and turn it off and when you want to turn it on again, hold the menu 
key down, for a second and hit the select key again and it will come back on. 
If someone else has a better idea please let me know but that's what I ended up 
having to do. Thanks again and take care.
