We have Direct TV.  The installer put the app on my phone.  I love it!  I can 
check the program schedule, set the recorder, and even watch programs on my 
phone.

The one thing I cannot do is access the recorder, to view the list of 
recordings, or play them back.  I was told that there is  a feature that will 
allow that for an additional fee, but don't want it badly enough to pay any 
more than we're currently paying for TV.

one service over another. I would imagine that as far as actual television and 
dvr equipment, they're all more or less going to be inaccessible, but if TWC, 
DirectTV, AT&T offer a reasonable solution/alternative through the I-devices, 
I'd like to know people's experiences. Verizon and Comcast aren't available in 
my area.

   

  I may in fact just stick with dish, but before I commit to another one or two 
year contract, I thought I'd ask around to see what else may be out there since 
I've been with Dish for so long now that I haven't really paid attention to 
what else is out there.
