Hi Donald, If you purchased Downcast I suggest you get the Podcasts directly from your iPhone, i.e. subscribe to the ones you want to listen to and you can either stream them in Downcast or download them. Downcast gives you full control over what you want to download, which episodes to keep etc. You can set this globally which means so it applies to all Podcasts you subscribe to or you can also set it per Podcast so that for example you could choose different settings for a daily Podcast where you may not keep a ton of episodes.
If you do want to listen to Podcasts you already downloaded in iTunes you have to sync them just like music or audio books. Hook up your phone, find the Podcasts tab, check it and then select if you want to sync all Podcasts or selected Podcasts. As of iOS 6 Apple has removed Podcasts from the music app where you used to be able to find your synced Podcasts under the "More" tab in the bottom right corner. They want you to use their Podcast app, but since so far it is not as good as Downcast, you can I believe use Downcast, but I am not exactly sure if it can find Podcasts you sync via iTunes. I also heard at one point that if you install the Apple Podcast app and then remove it that the Podcast option comes back in the Music app. Once again, I have not verified this since I find it much easier to just use Downcast exclusively to subscribe and listen to Podcasts just as I find it easier to use Audible to download and listen to Audio Books.
