Rob,
Been having trouble with my 3g as well. Have to shut it down every two
days for at least ten minutes or it begins acting slow.Have to wait
until my trade in comes up in July and get the I phone 5 or 4s.

Paul,
More fundamentally, are you on the free iCloud plan, as that only comes
with I believe around 5Gb of iCloud storage.
Noting that this is for everything you use for iCloud, contacts, e-mail
etc, it could be that your iPhone backup is larger than the space
available, and as such, there is not enough room… which the error
message may just be misleading you over…
check the size of data on your phone, photos etc. and compare.

I have 5 iOS devices all syncing via WiFi to the same machine, so all I

Sometimes, and for no reason or ryhmn, a device keeps saying looking for

A 3GS getting SoooOoo slow!
<http://groups.google.com/group/viphone/t/987c376ee235bf6f>
*Rob Harris <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>>*

Yes, the 3GS is getting so slow now, clear the app switcher, still takes
seconds on end to respond to anything, swipes, reading next item,
navigating
or doing anything. I could shut down, could try the full reboot if I could
remember it; but don't want to clear down and reset from factory defaults;
it would take to long to rebuild it.
The question as ever is - why? The processor still runs at the same
speed,... doesn't it?
Thanks, RobH.
*Rob Harris <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>>*
Jan 01 11:29AM
Ok, a real reboot did, or seems to have done the trick; it's back up to
speed now TG! Glad it was so simple. Why is hardly an issue though suspect
fragmented memory after all the starting and stopping of randomly selected
apps over a period of time. Seems a good idea to do this occasionally
anyway.
Bet there's bound to be rogue apps out there with poor memory management,
failing to release memory back to the stack in particular.
RobH, a tad wiser now.

Just like with computers, the OS and apps are now being written for the
faster processor and higher ram in the newer iOS devices. Remember, the
3GS technology is 3 and a half years old. IOS v6 has many more features
and the 3GS barely works with it. I am pretty sure this is the last
upgrade for the 3GS. The original iPad has already been removed from the
upgrade cycle.

The answer is yes to all three of your questions.
There are several podcasts on the mac and Voice-Over on
www.blindcooltech.com <http://www.blindcooltech.com> which demonstrate
how to use the mac. Also, you can find podcasts from other websites.
Though VO and the mac are different, they are readily useable. I
switched to the mac in October 2011 and use it and my iPhone
exclusively. I am a doctoral candidate and use both products for my
research and significant amounts of writing.

Hi Recardo and others,
First of all, my best wishes for 2013.
What about the question below:
I think that making records of a phone call should be possible and the
use of one microphone for 2 programs = sondstreams , should not be a
problem.
I think this because Some years ago, I had a nokia where you could press
on a button while calling and both conversations on each side of the
line where recorded. Both parties could here then a little sound every
(30) seconds while the call was recorded.
It would be so nice if it should become true also for the iphone
kind regards,

Hi Stacey, no there is not. iMessages works via the Apple ID, but text
messages work via your cell phone carrier. Now, if you have a Google
Voice number and you are using a Google Voice app, then you can get
text
messages to either device, but it wouldn't be in the same messages
app.

When you sign up with Google voice, you get a phone number. People can
call this number or send it text messages. you can use the Google Voice
app on your iPhone to read these text messages or send text messages
from this number.
When someone calls your Google Voice number, you can have it ring
several numbers, such as your home number, your office number and your
mobile number. You can answer the call from any of these phones. You can
also go into the Google Voice app and place a call from this number.
You can check your voice mail with a phone, web site or the Google Voice
app. Google voice also performs speech recognition on the message, so
you can just read the text of the message someone left you.

Right, you have to swipe right through that list. The add new location

close to where you are currently. It's a bit tedious, but it's there in
the middle of those two rather long lists.

Hi Gena,
Thanks for your questions. BrailleTouch supports Grade 1 braille, including
letters, numbers, and most punctuation from the BANA standards. It is not
computer braille. You can use the capital sign, number sign, and letter
sign. The period, or full stop, is dots 2 5 6. The decimal point is dots 4
6. I hope this helps.
I just posted separately about the finger positions and keyboard layout.
Best,
Caleb

The confusion starts when you read the details, about the way you grip your
phone in particular, and find this is not really anything like a Perkins...
which is all fingers in a single line. To be honest, that was a leap of
imagination when first introduced and we were all used to working in the 6
block pattern of braille itself. YOu got 3 fingers across the screen one
end, and the other 3 across the other end. Your hands are all but facing
each other; this is where it'll take a leap of imagination to flick it
back. I know they described one way of thinking of this, and found that
even more confusing, and guess some of the testers had the same issue,
which is why the flip is included.
I likened it to an old Stainby, those braille writers had keys laid out
like that. Perkins has always had a single row typewriter fashion; so like
another suggestion, doing it that way for the iPad would work much better!
And there's plentyof room to do it that way too.
RobH.

Actually, according to the user guide, it appears to me that the default
layout will be just like a Perkins brailler. You hold the phone in
landscape
mode with the screen away from you. Then your left index finger will be dot
1, left middle dot 2, and the finger next to your pinky will be dot 3. The
right hand would be the same: dot 4 is your right index finger; dot 5 is
your right middle finger; dot 6 is the finger next to your right pinky.
This
would be exactly like a Perkins braille writer. Flipping dots 1 and 3 and
flipping dots 4 and 6, if I'm picturing this crrectly, would put dots 1 and
4 under your fingers next to your pinkys. So in the flipped setting, a c
would be at the two far ends of your two-hand position while in the normal
default setting the letter c would be the two center points of your
two-hand
position. The default setting should be immediately comfortable for
those of
us who use a Perkins brailler; if I am picturing this correctly, I would
find the flipped keyboard confusing but I imagine that depends on what you
use for writing.

Those are left/right swipes, use the second finger I think. The user guide

Hello,
I'm sure it will be a lot clearer when the app is installed on the
phone. I've got quite slim fingers and holding the phone to align them
in perkins formation doesn't work as the phone isn't long enough.
Coincidently, what fingers do the forward and backward spaces?
Thanks.
