I find that if I exit the game and come back in, that most of the time it has resorted itself for the remaining missing items to show on the page I am on.
If the pending item does not let you bring focus to it to type the letters in, either use one of your hints, or sometimes double tap on a completed area and it will either let you type in the letters you need to add, or give you an error saying the word is filled in. Either way go back to the pending word and now you can edit it. I find that when I get close to completing a level, it is sometimes impossible to find the remaining clues, no matter how many times I swipe through the pages of clues.
