Welcome to the biggest headache when importing CDs into iTunes. What happened is that the tracks are tagged with different artists, usually to point out who are the soloists on each of those tracks. It is best to do this before you import, but since you already imported it, these are the steps you want to take. 1. Figure out if there is one thing you can search for that is common between all tracks but not on other albums. That would likely be the title of the musical. Search for that in the search box in itunes. 2. Tab to the resulting list of tracks and hit control+a to select all and then control+i to edit all. Say yes when it prompts you about editing multiple tracks at once. 3. In this case, I would tab to the album artist field and put something in like Aida Original cast, then tab to the compilation checkbox and check it. I have my iTunes set to just show the CD, not to import automatically. I then always check that the album title, artist and Genre are what I want. For example, most Christmas albums are listed with the Genre Holiday. I always change that to Christmas. The other option you have is to Go through each song and make sure the Artist names are all the same. HTH, Richard That should get them all back together.
_____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D. Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2013 8:15 PM To: '[email protected]' Subject: Ripped 1 CD into iTunes; got 6 partial albums. How to fix? Hi, I ripped a CD of a Broadway musical titled Aida, containing 22 tracks, and syncked to my iPhone. On the iPhone Music app, under Albums, there are now 6 albums titled Aida, some containing 1 track, others containing several tracks, totaling the 22 tracks in all. Some albums are listed as Ensemble, others with the names of different people, but not sure if composers, performers, or what. The tracks are not in proper sequence across the different albums, e.g. on one album is track 12; on another album are tracks 2, 6, 13, 14,, and 22. I just want to listen to this album Track 1 through Track 22. Can anyone explain what happened and why. And, how to get it working in the obvious way? Thanks.
