David, I use a USB charger. They come in various power capacities such as 1000 mAh, 1800 mAh, 2200 mAh etc. They connect to your iPhone using your data cable and plug into a USB port on the charger. There is also a flip-down adapter that permits charging via a wall outlet. When no outlet is handy like in your pocket or purse, just connect your sync/charge cable to your phone and to the USB port on the charger and press the recessed button. The 1000 mAh charger will recharge a dead iPhone once. Of course, the batteries with more power can recharge more times or more devices. Usually though there are 2 USB ports on the charger. I bought a sync/data cable that retracts and that works great when your out and about and power is getting low. You can also be charging your phone wile talking on it.

Note: the batteries with greater capacity are also larger in size. My 1800 mAh charger is enough to recharge 2 devices fully from being dead. In my case, it's most often my iPhone 4 and my Bluetooth ear peace.

HTH

PS: I should also say that there are solar chargers which add one more rankle to the mix meaning they can be charged by the sun, by it's own battery or plugged into a wall outlet. Other chargers work with a battery inside a case for the phone. Still others work by laying your phone on a pad. No need to take it out of a case etc. Just more ways to get you to spend your money. I like the 1800 mAh recharger because, it's smaller then a deck of cards, can recharge 2 devices at once and turns it's self off when your phone is fully charged or as high as it can before it dies but it always disconnects so it doesn't steal power from your phone's battery.

Subject: iphone cases with battery extenders?

I have been surfing the internet concerning Iphone cases which claim
to extend the phone battery life.

I guess some contain a actual additional battery, some plug into ac power.

Has anyone used these types of products?

Do they work?

Will they work on an iphone 3gs?

Thanks

David Gross
