Hi Kim, But the nice thing with the Apple earpods or the original Apple headset for that matter is that you can easily use it just in one ear. Just use the right side which has the controls and let the left side hang around the back of your neck.
I guess you could spend the $35 and buy an extra pair and simply cut off the side that doesn't have the remote. That would be a lot cheaper than any bluetooth earpiece and you wouldn't have to worry about charging it or experiencing that tiny delay you always get with even the best bluetooth headsets and which is annoying if you are trying to type something. If you don't already own the new earpods because you bought an iPhone 5 I would recommend you buy those and cut off the one side on your old headset and that way you have the better quality one for stereo/both ears if you want that.
