Some of the bt keyboards include the sleep button, I've shut down a device with those. But that is a larger keyboard, not a dinky one like you might use with an iPod. Touching all the things on screen don't make a lot of difference so long as you don't double tap them, or split tap them I suppose if 2 fingers get involved. In truth, it's the first time I've heard this as being an issue. In the absence of a keyboard, you will have to pick it up at some point.

As is whenever I try picking it up to pres the physical sleep button on top I end up pressing all the buttons on the home screen. There are many, many very experienced Apple product users here, so I was just hoping I could tap into the accumulated knowledge on this list. I know I can place the sleeping iPod down and tap the home key to turn it on, so I'm hoping there is an equally quick way of locking the screen. Thanks.
