Hi Sherrie, You can use the tilt forward gesture to go to the tool bar and the first button to b read is "Record New Item" lift the phone back up and a new recording will start. So yes, the gesture can start the recording without any tapping. You can also tilt the phone right and when you hear add item double tap and you will be in a new item and on the record button.
my preferred method to record quickly is to keep list recorder in my doc on the far left. I open the app and then tap Record new item , which is also on the bottom left. I'm then immediately making a recording. Hope this info helps.
