These are good steps but at least in my experience it is not necessary to start all over again if you lift your finger from the icon. Once it has crossed over into the page where you want it, if you need to do so, you should be able to lift your finger. Press the home button. Then find your icon which will be on the page to which you moved it and proceed with moving it to the exact place where you want it. Some people do find it easier to do in one step while others like to employ smaller steps. If you are moving the icon into a folder this procedure will be slightly different in that you want to press the home button more than once as you want to hear the folder close in which you have placed the new icon. I think I remember this usually being three times but just press and listen for what is said and then press again.
