Hi Courtney,

Thanks for your question about BrailleTouch in portrait. Before we released the app, we had a version that worked in all four orientations, including Portrait. However I have not yet found anyone who preferred portrait over landscape for the touchscreen braille keyboard. If you or others are interested in using BrailleTouch in portrait, I suggest locking your phone and simulating using it this way. Please let me know if you like this better than landscape. Feel free to write me offlist if you like.

I'll be honest. We have faced a lot of frustrations on the software development side getting the orientation of various screens in BrailleTouch to behave properly with VoiceOver. I know there are some remaining issues that people have brought up, especially on the email, twitter, and messaging screens. We're working on those. On top of that there is a bug in iOS 6.0.1 where VoiceOver won't find the Send button in landscape on the Apple-provided email and messaging screens. That appears to be fixed in iOS 6.1 fortunately.

If a lot of people would strongly prefer the braille keyboard in portrait, we will certainly consider it. However I do want to avoid creating other potential problems and confusion with orientation issues in BrailleTouch, unless the portrait keyboard option is a feature people really think is important.

Thanks so much,
Caleb

Hi,
Is there a way to get Braille Touch to work in portrait mode instead of
landscap?
Thanks,
