Sounds like you have the 8 Gb iPhone 4 because I have this as well and the amount shown is about 6 Gb in total.

Hello,

I just got an upgrade from an iPhone 3GS to a 4. It's a company phone
so I really don't know much about it.

I'm already running into storage problems which never happened on my old
phone. When I look at the Usage of the 4 and add up the amount used and
the amount available it only comes to 6 GB. So, I looked at my old
phone and the addition comes to 16 GB. I thought that 16 GB was the
least amount of storage on any iPhone.

I'm confused. Can someone please enlighten me?

Thanks,

Kim
