If Facebook, Twitter and Text Message is what you are mostly concerned about then you will just have to turn those off, there is no global setting to disable all notifications and turning off 3 individual apps/services is not so bad. I just went into Settings and Notification Center on my iPhone and reviewed my entire list of about 10 or so apps which are in Notification Center, I found 3 I recently installed which I didn't need in there and turned them off and the entire process took me less than a minute. It took me probably 2 minutes to start this email, write it and send it to the list. And since I was demonstrating something on the phone, it was still giving out twitter, message, and facebook notifications like crazy.
