Well, I am congenitally blind, but I used the Optacon fairly well for years without tracking problems, and they were amazed in my training since I read braille left-handed only but I was reading about 60 words per minute a few years ago.

I do know blind photographers, but they had usable vision at some point. i recall when the Optacon was introduced and how much trouble congenitally blind people had learning to track in a straight line with the camera. i know people who have the KNFB reader, and even with all of the support it provides, I know many blind persons who still can't get a good scan. Blind people have to work extra hard to learn what comes naturally to someone who can see.
