Hi Alan,

Chris and Anna already pointed out some of what you can do. Here is a few
more tips:

Instead of swiping left to right or right to left, do a 1-finger swipe up or
down on the control that says Page 1 of 2, adjustable.
As Chris and Anna mention, there are the other methods, here are all 3
methods:

1. Do a 3-Finger swipe from right to left anywhere on the screen to go from
home page 1 to page 2, swipe again to go to page 3 etc.
Swipe from left to right to go back. Think of it in terms of turning over a
page in a book, the motion is you reach right to the edge of the page and
then move your hand left to turn the page over to the next page. Going back
you reach to the left and turn the page to the right. The right to left
3-finger swipe mimics that right to left movement when you go forward a page
and vice versa.

2. Find the Page control above the dock. Do a 1-finger swipe up to advance a
page and a 1-finger swipe down to go back a page.

3. Find the page control and double tap on it to advance by 1 page. This
allows you to advance, but you can't go back.

Pressing the Home Key will always take you back to page 1.
If you are on the last page, i.e. let's say you have 3 home pages with apps
and you are on page 3, any of the gestures (a 3-finger swipe right to left,
a 1-finger swipe up or a double tap will open the "Spotlight Search" page.
You can also get there by pressing the Home Key if you are on the first home
page.
You can go to "Settings", "General" and "Spotlight Search" to make changes
as to which items you want to include in the search and in which order they
should appear. For example, you can include contacts, music, apps etc. If
you include contacts and have Contacts at the top, then if you type
something the first search results will be for contacts. Example: I have
Contacts as the first category, apps as my second and music as my third. If
I type "Sky", I find 2 contacts because even though they don't have the
letters "Sky" in their first or last names, one of them lives on "Skyline
Crescent" and for the other contact I typed his Skype User Name into the
Notes field in Outlook which gets synced to the iPhone.
Under apps I find "Skype and "Skydrive"
Under music I find a lot because I have songs like "Lucy in the Sky with
Diamonds", but I also have an album called "Blue Sky, Night Thunder" and it
will list all songs on that album.
I also find a Reminder called "Review my Skype subscription"

This Spotlight Search function is quite powerful and while I don't use it a
lot, it's very useful at times. Whatever you search for also stays in the
search field so if, for example, I double tap on one of the contacts that
shows up in the search, it opens that contact, but I can go back to
Spotlight Search and whatever I searched for is still there including all
the results. If I double tap a song it plays, if I double tap an app it will
open.

Lastly, your Contacts app is most likely in the Utilities folder. If you
have one, double tap on it and it will open and you can review the apps in
it.

If you have an iPhone 5 you can have up to 16 apps in a folder and up to 20
on each home screen + the 4 in the dock.
Each folder will say how many apps are in it, for example, Voiceover might
say "Utilities, 5 apps". If it says something like "Utilities, 5 apps, 2 new
items" this means that one of the apps in the Utilities folder has
notifications, it could be that your Reminders app is in the utility folder
and you have set 2 reminders which haven't been checked off as completed or
deleted.

You can also move your apps from one home screen to another or create
folders. The short explanation of this is as follows:

Assume you want to move the App Store app.
Find it, then double tap and hold on the second tap until you hear a triple
tone and Voiceover says "Moving App Store".
Now drag your finger around the screen, let's say App Store is on the third
row of apps and in third place from the left and you want to move it to the
top row and the very left position.
After it says "Moving App Store", move your finger straight up and Voiceover
will say if you are on another app or if you are on an empty spot it will
say the position, e.g. row 2, column 2. I usually go straight up or down,
then left or right.
This is one of the gestures which takes some practicing because if you
accidently lift your finger while you are on another app, say Calendar, you
will create a folder and both the Calendar and App Store apps will be in
that folder. iOS will automatically name the folder according to the
category of the app you are moving, e.g. if you are moving Ootunes which
would be in the "Music" category" onto "weater" which has the "Weather
category", the folder will automatically be named "Music". You can change
the folder name manually.
To move an app from home screen 2 onto home screen 1, double tap and hold
the app, then move your finger towards the left edge of the phone. If you
reach the desired spot Voiceover will announce that and then you just hold
still for a second or 2 and the app will wrap over to the previous screen,
move to the right edge if you want to go from home screen 1 to home screen
2.
If you have for example 6 home screens and you want to move an app from 6 to
1, you would do the same, but keep holding your finger down. The app will
move to home screen 5 and if you keep holding after about 2 or 3 seconds it
will move to 4, then to 3, to 2 and finally 1.

For a more detailed explanation and demo, check out the Podcast from Garth
on moving apps on www.iBlindTech.com. Garth actually has a good series of
Podcasts and the nice thing is that his earliest Podcasts cover the very
basics and he progressively moves on to more advanced stuff. One could
almost think he actually put some thought into what Podcasts he is doing and
in which order *smile*.

Hope this helps a bit,
Sieghard

You can also double tap on the Page 1 of 2 button to get to the next page,
and as Anna says, there is a Contacts app on your phone somewhere.
I don't recall where it is on a virgin phone any more, since I tucked mine
away in a folder.

page 1, you'll be on a search screen. Type Contacts, and your iPHone will
find the Contacts app. perhaps it's in a folder; if that's the case, the
search will tell you which folder it's in, which should help you find it
next time.

I'll be darned if I can find a Contacts icon on my iPhone's main screen with
which to access the contacts. I know at least part of the sync was
successful since I have calendar items under that icon. How do I review my
phone's contacts?

a lot of difficulty getting to that second page. I found the page dots at
the bottom of the screen where it says page 1 and swipe up or down to change
page selection but when I swipe, nothing happens. I have to turn VoiceOver
off and then swipe left or right as a sighted person would do to get to the
second page. Any suggestions on an easier method or what I might be doing
wrong?
