A few years ago I bought my wife a Garmin nuvi 350 for $900, and saw one
recently for $119.

It means the company has found some other sources of funding, and is the
danger one faces when one is an early adopter. It happens in every market.
It is, in no way whatsoever, exclusive to the blind.
For example, a good friend of mine purchased a very nice Bluetooth portable
speaker system in October for $300 NZD. I went to the place he purchased it
a couple days before New Years and found the very same speaker system on
sale for $230 NZD.
