Great info. Thanks, Sieghard. If one records while in airplane mode, for example, do you know if voice files will reside onboard iPhone until there is a connection to DropBox, or must one have an active connection to use DropVox?
Thanks in advance. If you want something that possibly makes it easier to get the recordings off the phone without the need for iTunes, then I would suggest Dropvox (note that is "Dropvox" with a "v" for victor" and not a "b" for bravo). The developer is Irradiated Software who also have Text Expander and Elements (a notes editor). The developer states specifically in the app store descriptionthat the app is Voiceover accessible. The first time you go into the app you can open the settings and set it so that the app starts recording automatically when you open it and once you are done recording the app will upload the file to a "Dropvox" folder on Dropbox (of course you have to have a Dropbox account). If I remember correctly you can also specify a folder, i.e. you could make a folder in your Dropbox called "Recorded Sermons" or "Sermons and Speeches" and specify to upload to that folder in the app settings. Recordings are uploaded in M4A format. If you need MP3 it would be very easy to just open the recording in iTunes, make sure you set MP3 as the encoder in iTunes under Preferences, General Tab, Import Settings. Now you can right click on your recording and select "Make MP3 version" from the context menu. After the MP3 file has been created you can add/edit ID3 tags by right clicking on it and select "Get Info" or use Control+I, then go to the Info tab and you could put in information such as title, artist (in this case you), year (the exact date if you like) and even a bunch of notes in the comment field about the topic of your sermon/speech. You could, of course, use any other audio conversion program as well to convert to MP3 if you have one you prefer to use. Below are the links for Dropvox for the Canadian and US as well as 3 european app stores and the English app store description: Note that you can typically substitute the 2 letters after the .com/ with your country code, e.g. ca=Canada, us=United States, gb=Great Britain, se=Sweden etc. to find an app in your app store.
