If you are dictating a sentence, and you want something spelled out specifically, there are two ways I generally handle this. One way is to dictate your sentence up to the point where you want the spelled out word/name. Double tap your keyboard, so that SIRI inserts your dictation up to this point, then dictate the spelling of your name/word, and double tap to insert it. This makes it easier to double check that SIRI has inserted exactly what you want, without having to work your way through the entire text. Then continue on with your dictation. For myself, I don't have much past luck with SIRI spelling things out, particularly in regards to names of geographical locations, such as cities or towns. It's not that the words are misspelled when I spell them using dictation, but they might all be capitals, or the letters have spaces between them. I have found it is simply faster to dictate my text up until the point I want that specifically spelled out term, insert it by hand, then continue with my dictation. I know this sounds cumbersome, but it really only takes a few seconds, and it ensures I get the word I wanted, without having to crawl through my whole text to find out if SIRI did it correctly or not. There is probably someone who has a better method, this is just what works for me. Kind regards, Melissa

I completely agree that dictation requires practice just as typing with Fleksy or Braille Touch does and assuming one can just speak away and get great results definitely does not work. I usually get reasonably good results, but I, for example, never had much luck with the various commands like "Caps On" or "All Caps On'" etc. I have a listing of SIRI commands and tried to dictate using those exact examples, but some of them just did not seem to work. Maybe I should try it again since it's been a while since I tried to use more advanced features beyond basic sentences with basic punctuation. In fact as I write this, I am not really writing. I am actually dictating. Yet on my punctuation is in there correctly. If you want more suggestions on how to use punctuation and dictation in general, do a Google search for Dragon dictation suggestions. You might even include the word punctuation. Also, sometime last year I believe I sent the list the web address where I get a lot of my dictation tips for them. I hope this helps someone. Period.
