If your interested in Historical points of interest, try GEOReader. It's
accessible and reads the historical points of interest near by. With such
points of interest, the app by default only reads the point of interest to
you once not every time you pass it by. Hearing the same long text
describing the point of interest would be a pain every time but you can go
into settings and have the app forget all the points of interest in that
area if you decide you want to hear them again or if you want to impress
friends and family. Although I haven't tried this feature but you can add
your own as well.
Note: I found the 99 cent app by typing GEO Reader as one word and all lower
case letters georeader.
It goes beyond the grocery stores gas stations and such as you would find
with a GPS app. This app uses your iPhone's GPS to locate the historical
points of interest around you. On the face of it, you may not even know
about historical points of interest near by you. I found quite a few around
me in Las Vegas Nevada that I never knew about or knew about but had never
visited there. The sighted family member no longer has to read it for you.
You can now read about it for your self. I found it to be very much worth
99 cents. I can't say that for allot of other apps and even a few that I
paid more fore. This app does something really new with the GPS built in to
your iPhone.

I think having map data from more than source is brilliant but realise you
can only have one source selected at once. It would be good to be able to
have pois collected from more than one source but guess this would be
confusing as you would hear some points twice.

I think it is good to remember that this will be a 1.0 app, so we can't
necessarily expect all the features of the mature apps from other
platforms
to be present in this one.
