This is normal behaviour, and how Bluetooth earpieces can last more than a few
hours on a charge. You need to have the iPhone send a continuous signal to the
earpiece in order to keep the channel open. Try playing a quiet sound track in
the music player. You can find white noise MP3 tracks on the internet. This
will provide a quiet hiss sound which the announcement will play over. Be aware
that this strategy will greatly reduce the time that the earpiece will last
between charging.
