What sometimes seems to happen to me, and is confusing, is when I start moving an app, the empty space it leaves as I start moving the app causes all the other apps beyond that to shift one space closer to the top. At least that's what it seems to me. So, if I'm targeting an app or folder at row 4, column 1, that target actually becomes row 3 column 4 by the time I get there from , say row 1 column 2.
Do others experience this? If so, how do you compensate? If not, is there anything I can do to keep the other apps from moving until I get to the app or folder I have initially targeted? The other problem I have is moving an app from page 2 to page 1. If page 1 has the last space free, and I move an app from page 2 back to page 1, I frequently end up in column 1, and all the other apps have shifted one space closer to the end of the screen. I'd really appreciate some suggestions on how to keep these things from occurring. Thanks in advance. Thanks for the post on moving apps. I'll check out that podcast as well on that web site you mentioned as well as try what you mentioned. There will be a short triple bubble sort of sound and Voiceover will say Moving and the name of the app. Next, without lifting your finger, you drag the app towards the Utility folder. You have to know where it is in relationship to your app, e.g. if the app you are moving is on home screen 1, in row 2 and position 3 (from the left)you're your utility folder is on Home screen 1, row 4 and position 1 (the very left), you have to drag your app down 2 rows and over 2 apps to the left. Once you hear "On Utility Folder" this means you are now on the folder where you want the app to be and you drop it into the folder by lifting your finger. I actually sometimes find it easier to move a folder right next to the app I want to put in it, this can be either next to it to the left, to the right, above or below. The advantage of moving a folder is that you can't accidently create another folder or drop it into the wrong folder which can happen if you lift your finger if the app is on another app or the wrong folder. I find folders move easier and each time you move up or down a row or a spot to the left or the right there is a short metallic blink and you can count these to keep track of where you are. You get this sound as well when you move an app, but it still is easier. Once your Utility folder is in a spot right above or below, left or right of the app, then you just have to drag the app over one spot or up or down one row to get it onto the folder. If your app is on a different home screen from the utility folder, you have to drag it to the edge of the screen and then pause until it wraps around to the next screen. Voiceover will announce this. If your app is on a page before the page where the folder is on, drag it to the right screen, if it is on a home page after the one where your folder is, drag it to the left edge to go back a page. If you have to jump over 2 or more home pages, you can drag it to the edge and when the page changes, just keep holding down your finger and wait about 3 seconds and it will change again and so on. If you still have problems, I suggest to listen to a podcast Garth did on his website, www.iBlindTech.com which demonstrates how to move apps, create folders etc. Good luck, Sieghard -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Rebecca Ilniski Sent: Saturday, March 02, 2013 6:36 AM To: [email protected] Subject: moving apps Hi all. I want to move some apps that I'm not using often in to the utilities folder. I hold down on the one that I want to move and it says opening utilities folder. Then I let go. What am I not doing for the app not to go in to the folder? thanks. -- Rebecca and Zeb email: [email protected] facebook: www.facebook.com/rebeccai5 Zeb's facebook: www.facebook.com/zeb.ilniski -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
