I will answer your question, but for the future, you should probably contact
Raul or Cara directly with such group related requests. I will also post
this to the list and CC you directly to make sure you get this. Hopefully
others will save the email since this question comes up several times a
year.
Before I start I will also mention that I am describing how to do this using
the new google groups interface. I just checked this and found that they
made some changes which makes this very nicely accessible.
I am also a Windows user and use Jaws so my description will be for that, if
you use a different screenreader, quick navigation keys like "b" for button"
maybe the same, but if they are not I suspect they do exist in some form and
you know what they are. OK, so here it goes:
Go to http://groups.google.com/group/viphone?hl=en.
Make sure you sign in if you are not signed in automatically. If you go to
the top of the screen and use "b" to jump to the first button, you will be
on the search button just after the search edit field. Arrow down and the
"Sign In" link is right there.
After you have signed in, use "b" for button until you find a button called
"Membership and email Settings". For me, starting once again at the top of
the page, it was the tenth button. You can, of course, also use the Jaws
virtual find command, Jaws Key+Control+F, type in "email settings" as the
search string and press enter, this will take you right to the button. Press
enter or space bar to activate the button.
For me after I press enter edit mode automatically activates and my cursor
is placed in the "Display Name" field. I assume if you don't have auto forms
mode turned on this may not happen, but I'm not sure.
If you are not placed right into the membership settings area, either go to
the top with Control+H and then use "e" twice to jump to the Display Name
edit field or activate virtual find with Jaws Key+Control+F and search for
"Viphone Membership Settings".
After the display name field is a checkbox which reads like this:
Checkbox not checked, Link to my Google profile and show my photo on posts
This is followed by the email you use for the list and how you want your
mail delivered. Both the email address and your currently selected delivery
choice is read like this (I am using my example):
Use
Sieghard at live dot ca button
For this group with the following settings:
Send me an email for every new message (about 152 per day) button
Checkbox checked unavailable, Automatically subscribe me to email updates
when I post a topic.
Other members of this group can find your email address. Anyone who knows
your email address could discover your Google Profile.

Link, leave group
After the "Leave Group" link there is no more, it is the bottom of the page.
This means you could also use Control+End and just arrow up from the bottom
which would get you to the delivery option pretty quickly.
In order to change your delivery option from individual emails or digest
mode to no email, just press enter on the button that lists how you
currently receive messages, some choices pop up right at the bottom of the
screen, they are as follows:
Don't send email updates menu
Send daily summaries menu
Send combined updates (25 messages per email) menu
Send me an email for every new message (about 152 per day menu
The "menu" is just something Jaws reads, all you have to do is press enter
on "No email" and this will become your choice, then make sure you arrow
down to the Save button or use "b" to jump to it and press enter or space
bar to save your setting.
If you want to change it back to any of the other options, just repeat the
steps, select the way you want to receive group messages and save it once
again.
