Hi there. when the keyboard hasn't been used in some time it goes into a power saving sleep mode. You can find out if this is the case if you press a key and nothing happens. So, if I haven't used it for a while, but the power switch is still on, I press control or shift to wake it up, and that way if I need to type, I don't risk losing the first letter. As for saving battery life, I've forgotten to turn mine off over night a few times and it hasn't affected it. I am still on the same set of batteries from when I got it in June last year. However if anything, it's good to turn it off when not in use so accidental presses of keys won't be sent to your device when you may not want them to.

Hope that helps.

Hi, all.

I have the Amazon Basics Blutooth Keyboard paired with my phone. Should
I keep the power switch in the on position now that it's paired or does
leaving it off preserve battery life? I know for my Logitech wireless
keyboard for the PC, the on/off switch keeps the keyboard from
accidentally typing characters while it's off, but I keep mine on all of
the time and haven't changed batteries in over a year. Is this the same
with the Amazon Bluetooth keyboard? Also, once it's paired, will I need
to reconnect it to my phone? So far, the phone has recognized the
keyboard with no problems.

Also, does Bluetooth usage affect battery life with the iPhone 5 and if
so, how can I extend battery life? I generally keep my phone on
Standby, and this also seems to eat into the iPhone battery, so any ides
would be great.
