Raul and list. I downloaded the free version of plaintext because I didn't see the paid version. Is it called something else? Where do I find it or how do I update from the app itself, I have not yet seen a way to do this.

No doubt you might get several suggestions for this because there are several apps which will do this and do this well. My personal favorite is plain text. The free version has ads, but the paid version does not. It is a very easy to use app which also has drop box and iTunes filesharing support. I highly recommend this one especially if you are looking for a simple notes style app which doesn't Have a lot of extra bells and whistles which you may not want considering that you may only want note taking capabilities.
