Hi Arianna and others,

Firstly, thank you Arianna for the suggestion to use the app "Chime"
to accomplish my goal of configuring a tone that will prevent me from
accidentally leaving my iPod Touch 5th turned on resulting in letting
battery drain completely.

For those who might want to seek such a solution, here are some tips.

The app I installed is called "Chime." Please note it is the
singular--no "s" at the end.

This app has 4 different configurable sounds. I like the short beep as
its not too loud nor a long annoying sound clip that plays for 20
seconds. All I wanted was a small subtle beep to serve as a reminder
that my iDevice has been left on, and this definitely serves its
purpose. (Smile)

The app so far seems to be fully accessible

I very easily and quickly set the chime to run from 1AM to midnight.
You can configure any schedule you would like per 24 hour period such
as from 8AM to 7PM etc.

You can set the chimes to play at 15 minute, 30, 45, and hourly
intervals. You can of course also open the app and completely disable
the chimes whenever you want so you no longer hear any sounds.

This app does not have to be running or need to be the app in focus to
work. In fact, I went into the App switcher and unloaded it, and it is
still emitting it's configured tones.

The app is free. I would have gladly paid a couple of bucks for this
cute little app.

As an additional note, I just noticed that if one taps on the time, if
you do not touch your iPod Touch or similar iDevice, you will hear the
time announced every minute. I think this is a nice feature if one
needs to set a brief alarm or countdown timer to take care of a quick
task.
