It could be a couple of things. Some books have a null character break in them. 
If this is the case, do a three finger single tap on the screen to get your 
current page (screen). Then, use a three finger vertical flick up to move the 
screen down a page. Now, touch near the bottom of the screen to find text past 
the null break. use a left finger flick left to work your way to the start of 
the text past the null break. Then, read as normal using a two finger flick 
down.

If you are at the end of the text in the current section, find the navigation 
button at the top of the screen in the middle. There is a problem in BookShare 
if you press the next section button too often it kicks you out of the app. 
Navigating to each section bypasses this problem.
