Hello,

The gesture to switch apps is a 4 finger swipe to the left or, to the right.  A 
finger swipe up opens the app switcher.  A 5 finger pinch brings you to the 
home screen.  In regards to which is easier?  I think this depends on how many 
apps you have open, or, if you don't remember exactly what you happen to have 
open.  So in short, it really depends on the task, which method will prove more 
efficient.  

Oddly enough, I turned this feature off in settings the first day I got my iPad 
because, with it on, the Voiceover 4 finger tap on the top or bottom of the 
screen, to move you to the top or bottom of a page doesn't work.

And finally, no.  These gestures we're talking about are not available on the 
iPhone or, iPad touch.  Just the iPad.
