Hi Rob, The Apple TV is an Airplay device as in that you can Airplay to the Apple TV, but you can not Airplay from the Apple TV to another device even if it is Airplay compatible.
Anyhow, the Beatbox is not really an Airplay device, i.e. you cannot play to the Beatbox via Airplay unless Bluetooth is on. In that respect any Bluetooth device is an Airplay device, my Jambox and Outdoor Technology headset all show up in Airplay if I have them paired and Bluetooth on my phone is on. If I turn Bluetooth off they disappear. As far as I know there is no battery level indicator on the iPhone for the Beatbox and no spoken battery level indicator like on the |Jambox. I believe in the original demo it was said that there isn't even a visual battery indicator, just a warning beep when the battery gets low.
