I have the newly updated navigon, and it does say the name of the street. In
settings, are you in pedestrian with voice announcement?

I hadn't used Navigon for over a year since it thought I lived in some place
called Lake Jeanclia, Oregon, which does not exist. With this new update, it
seems to know where I live now. I can not remember if it used to speak the
street name that you were going to turn onto, but it does not do that now.
It just says turn left, or in .5 miles turn left. You have to touch the
bottom to see what the street name is.
