you can pretty much do this with tondo, not only can you download files, edit them, and upload them back to where they can from, you can stream movies and music from anywhere. I would recommend on wifi . Just remember, you must download with PC or mac first, set up and account, then download the iPhone app, sign in there and then all your computers drives, including the externals will be available to you there.
