You have been pointed to the Standscan website and since Standscan is a fairly unique word, a search for it in the archives will pull up all the messages and there are dozens, one almost couldn't have missed them if you followed the list over the last month or so.
However, I will add one piece of advice. If you do think you might want to use your iPhone to scan things and do OCR with apps like Prizmo and Text Grabber, then today is the last day when you can take advantage of a promotion Standscan generously offered to Viphone list members. The Standscan Pro which is the one you want, is $29.95 and it comes with a 9 Volt battery holder (those are these large square batteries) to power the LED lights on the Standscan. However, for best performance the LED lights need 12 Volts of power and you can power the lights via a 12 Volt DC Power Adapter which you simply plug into a wall outlet and connect to the Standscan so no batteries are necessary. If you use it mainly at home this is maybe all you need. The 12 Volt DC Power Adapter is an accessory which normally costs $4.45, so if you buy the Standscan and the adapter is would be $34.40. The promotion Standscan offered about 2 weeks ago runs out today. If you do order it today you get 10% off the price of $29.95 and you get a free power adapter which normally is $4.45. So, you pay $26.96 instead of $34.40, a saving of $7.44. Shipping will most likely be about $8 or $10 and the item is shipped to you directly from Hong Kong by mail, so don't expect it in 3 or 4 days, it will most likely take about 2 weeks, but the discount almost offsets the shipping charge. Lastly, if you do travel around and would like to take the Standscan with you (it folds up to about the size of a piece of paper and half an inch thick, then you might want to also get the 12 Volt Battery Holder. This is an accessory and you have to add it from their list of accessories. It costs $4.95, but if you buy it today you will also get the 10% discount on it.
