That makes sense to me, which is why I think it's less confusing if you
use a new email message and a new subject line when you're starting a
new thread instead of hijacking an existing thread. I guess if the
subject of the thread is changing slightly, someone might update the
subject line and reply to a message in the thread, which would change
the subject on the web site while leaving it in the same thread, but I
think this is still less confusing then if the subject and the message
no longer agree with one another. For example, I've had trouble finding
a tidbit of information in the past because it was in a message where
the subject line no longer had anything to do with the message. I
couldn't skim the subject lines or just look for specific threads to
find what I was looking for.

On the website, each thread is displayed on a page. If the subject gets

I have to agree with Don on this. How does having the subject agree with the
content of the message screw things up on the web site? How is this more
confusing than having a subject line which no longer has anything to do with
the message or the thread? I also don't see how using a new message to start a
new thread with it's own subject would clutter things up. I only seldomly use
the web site to read messages, so maybe I'm missing something, but I do find
the archive and the web site hard to use when I can't find a particular message
because the subject doesn't have anything to do with the body of the message.

Hi Don,
The problem with changing the subject line un the emails, is that it
screws it up at the website.
I have no idea how many here view the posts at the website, like me,
but it can get confusing .
But if everyone started a new email, that would cause a lot of clutter
on the website.
There is no good answer.

Raul, I apologize if I am beating this to death; however, I want to
encourage you to frequently caution digest list readers always to change
the subject lines of their post so as to reflect accurately the topic
being discussed. Otherwise, the subject line will provide spurious
information such as digest containing XX topics and XX number of messages.

Hi Steve, I'm one of the viphone list moderators. I've updated your

I hope that helps.
