This always generates a bit of discussion on the list, but the screen
curtain is a privacy feature and not a battery saving feature. It
doesn't dim or turn off your screen. I don't have anything but anecdotal
evidence, but I run with the screen curtain on all of the time, and I
don't find it helps with the battery at all.

I doubt such apps will do much despite their claims. I would just follow
normal battery saving techniques like making sure you turn off Bluetooth
and especially WiFi if you are out and about and don’t use it. WiFi uses
up a fair amount of battery. Also make sure you don’t have any GPS apps
running unless you need them and don’t set location based reminders like
“Remind me to call John when I get home”, these use location services
and drain your battery faster.
If that is not enough you would be much better off trying to find either
aa battery case or an external battery which would allow you to charge
your phone when it gets below 10%, if you try and find something with at
least 1500 to 1800 MA you should be able to charge your phone back to
100% if you start when you get the 10% notification.
