If you have a sim card to insert long enough to set the phone up, you should
be able to remove it after and it will essentially be an iPod Touch. You
won't be able to use the actual phone features.

Subject: Using a phone that has been jailbroken without a Sim card

Hello, list. I have someone who just received to iPhone fives that have been
"unlock" I assume that this means they have been jailbroken.

When he tries to set up the phone, you get a message that says that it will
not work without a Sim card. Is there a way to run such a phone without a
Sim card?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Keith
