Every such app for the blind has always stated that your results will vary.
There are of course alternatives to said app which may yield better results
depending on the task. The end user has a responsibility to know the limits
of X app. It would probably be best to spend a few hours learning an app
with lots of potential rather than taking bite size pieces and never reading
information on website as there might be a manual or mini tutorial
available.

Subject: RE: talking goggles does not work for me
Trust me I feel your pain. One time I get smashing results the next time
nothing at all. I assume practice is the keyword here but sometimes I
don't
have 20 minutes to an hour to practice on the same thing, I need to know
now
so I can get on to whatever I need to do next.
Everything we are supposed to do with the iPhone camera is iffy for me,
one
time I may get a barcode to work and two minutes later the same item in
the
same place, same lighting won't work, I can occasionally get a scan to
read
an envelope one time and spend hours trying to get the next one. Money
Reader is my biggest success, enough so that I can leave my iBill at home
in
the desk where it does not get turned on like it did in my purse (have one
of the originals) which I have not used more than once since I put Money
reader on my phone but it is the only reliable camera app I do get to work
every time.
Man, to think in 1957 one of my cousins about my age (five) got a toy
camera
and I wanted one too but everyone said I could not use a camera so they
did
not want to encourage me in that direction, I guess something to me at 5
has
stuck with me all these years because my camera ability is next to zilch.
Imagine where I'd be if they had told me I could not type?

Subject: talking goggles does not work for me
Hello, Everyone: I was very impressed by the success people are having
with
the ap Talking Goggles. I purchased it a few days ago, but have had no
results. I am using an iphone 4s. I recognize that I am not very good with
using the camera since I haven't had good results with some of the other
aps
that require the use of the camera. I had my sighted wife try the Goggles,
and she didn't get much better results. I am using an odder box but my
wife
tells me that it doesn't block the camera. I have been able to get good
videos with the camera.
Any ideas as to what might be causing the ap not to work for me?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
Regards,
Martin Nelson
