Hi, Interesting question. Ran a couple of Google searchs, and it appears that most of these folder password apps are designed for protecting photos and videos. I also found many solutions for jail broken IOS devices, but I'm primarily interested in non-JB apps. Here are a couple of samples of what I found.

I know this list well enough to know that someone will post that one can add a password when turning on an IOS device, I'm not referring to that in this particular thread.
