Try this. Flick to the picker on the page. Double-tap it. Double-tap and hold on the second tap. After you hear the ascending tones, slide your finger up the screen slowly. As you do this you will hear quiet clicking. The clicking is the selection changing. If you want to read the selected item in the picker, flick left or right, then back. If it is not the correct item, double-tap and hold on the second again and follow the sliding trick again. Keep in mind that when you double-tap and hold, you may want to do it near the bottom of the screen so you have room to slide up.
